Glass bead blasting
Glass bead blasting is a specialised abrasive blasting technique where compressed air is used to forcibly spray glass beads against the treatment surface. The action of the glass beads leads to cold working of the metal, resulting in a smoother and harder surface. If crushed glass grit is used instead of beads, the surface is cleaned and any residual dirt removed.
Before glass bead blasting, it is important to ensure that the surface has been thoroughly cleaned in order to prevent dirt inclusions.
Glass bead blasting is generally used for stainless steel, aluminium and other relatively soft materials where surface smoothness and an attractive visual appearance are required.
Cuijpers Services operates its own glass bead blasting equipment and will be delighted to inform you about the technical possibilities.
